The Army Corps of Engineers started construction of a dam in 1964 and Green River Lake State Park opened in 1969. With 1,331 acres of land along with the 8,200-acre lake. The park has many attractions for those who love nature and wish to experience the beauty that is found in the Campbellsville, Kentucky area.
Park options include an 18-hole miniature golf course, hiking trails, a beach, picnic area, and a playground. The lake's marina has a restaurant, boat slips, and rentals for different types of boats. The lake abounds in bass, bluegill, catfish, and crappie.

Things to Do
Basketball
Pick a captain and choose your teams! There is always fun on the basketball and volleyball courts at Green River Lake. Overnight guests may check out sports equipment.
Biking
The parks offers 28-miles of multi-use trails for hiking and mountain biking. These trails offer great outdoor fun, exercise, and an opportunity to explore the natural beauty of Green River Lake.
Birding
Resident and Migratory Breeding songbirds are abundant at the state park beginning in April and remain through the middle of the summer. During winter, from the shoreline of the state park, waterfowl are abundant on the lake. Henslow’s sparrows nest on the park most years. Eagles are readily viewable during the winter months with peaks in January and February, but have been seen during all months of the year. Osprey may be seen during almost any month, but are more common during the fall migration.
Boating
Boating and water sports enthusiasts will love Green River Lake. The marina offers everything you will need to enjoy the day: 200 covered slips, rental houseboats, fishing boats, ski boats, jet skis, and pontoon boats. Open March-November. Camping
Fresh air and good times couldn’t be better than in this campground with 167 water and electric RV sites and 60 primitive tent sites. WiFi available. A grocery, a dump station, and three central service buildings with showers, rest rooms, and a laundry facility are available.
Fishing
For "reel" excitement enjoy a day of fishing at Green River Lake. Both the avid angler and the beginning fisherman will enjoy the challenge of fishing for white, largemouth, smallmouth, and Kentucky bass, bluegill, crappie, and muskie. Horseback Riding
The trails at Green River Lake State Park have multiple uses; for hiking, running, mountain biking and horseback riding. Foot-travel is allowed on all trails, but bikes and horses are restricted from some trails.
Miniature Golf
A great way for the entire family to play together is on the 18-hole, miniature golf course. So grab your favorite putter and head to the campground to test your putting skills. Open April 1st to October 31st. $5.00 charged per game.
Picnicking
Beautiful lake views and the great outdoors always enhance a family picnic. A picnic shelter is available for rental up to one year in advance. Two playgrounds, picnic tables, and grills provide for hours of entertainment. Open March - November.
Swimming
Enjoy sand between your toes and the gentle waves of Green River Lake at the campground beach. Volleyball lovers can almost always find a pick-up game on the sand court or take an exhilarating swim. Seasonal.
